A small habit. A growing nest.
A clearer spending picture in seven days.
Start small. You do not need to reconstruct every old receipt before you begin.
SpendNests product guide · Updated 10 October 2026
- Day 1 — Record one real expense. Add the amount, currency, category and date. Use a note only when it helps you recognise the purchase.
- Day 2 — Choose a daily check-in. After dinner or your commute, record the expenses you remember. Keep the routine manageable.
- Day 3 — Include recurring costs. List bills such as utilities, transport and school fees. Use the budget calculator to plan the monthly amounts.
- Day 4 — Agree on categories. Decide where shared groceries and meals belong. Consistency is more useful than dozens of categories.
- Day 5 — Review entries. Use History to find missing or duplicate items. Open an expense to inspect the details before editing it.
- Day 6 — Have a household conversation. Review spending together. Discuss what matters to each person without treating the tracker as a scorecard.
- Day 7 — Choose one adjustment. Look at Insights, identify a pattern and choose one realistic action for next week.
Track progress without sharing private amounts
Completing a week of tracking is worth celebrating. Tell a friend about the routine or share this guide. You do not need to publish your income, transactions or family details.
Common questions
Do I need to connect my bank?
No. SpendNests supports manually recorded expenses. The demo uses sample data.
What if I miss a day?
Resume with the next entry and add any earlier expense you can accurately reconstruct. An incomplete record should not be treated as a complete account statement.
How do I export my expenses?
In History, select your search and filters, then use Export to download an Excel file.
